One member I work with on a yearly basis is paralyzed from his waist down. I have worked with him on golf clubs that are longer, flatter, and with larger grips, while keeping the swing weight down as he swings with one hand. He uses one hand to stand up with his crutches, one hand to swing and is still enjoying the game!

How do you stay up to date on product and clubfitting best practices?
I stay up to date on club fitting and new product by completing training provided by the equipment manufacturers. I complete their online training on new product as well as visit the companies headquarters. Over the past 5 years, I have visited Callaway, TaylorMade, and Titleist in California, and Ping in Arizona. I have really enjoyed these meetings and learning from the engineers and head designers as well as networking with the executives at each company. I also stay up to date by visiting the PGA Show each year and by attending the PGA Show Demo Day. I have also been a member of the Callaway National Fitters Board for 10 years. On this board I contribute to new product, demo and fitting programs, and best practices. We meet 4-5 times each year and discuss trends and participate in surveys about fitting and upcoming new product. These meetings are extremely beneficial as we discuss the more technical aspects of the equipment, such as CG, MOI, and Tour trends.
What industry products/services would help you be a better clubfitter?
I believe continuing education is always helpful in becoming a better fitter. I participate in as many events and conferences as possible to keep up on the industry new product and trends. I have worked closely with PGA Magazine in the past by attending Club Fitting conferences and contributing articles. In 2021 I was asked to be the guest speaker at the PGA Magazine Club Fitting Conference in Nashville. I conducted live fittings as examples for other PGA Members and industry leaders.
I am also planning to be a speaker at the next South Florida PGA Teaching and Coaching Symposium.
