SPECIAL PROGRAMMING:
At our facility we have been involved with various community organizations in the local area. One special program we are very proud of in 2025 is the continuation of an after-school program with Parks Tacoma, Tacoma Public Schools and community partners which have come together to offer Beyond the Bell activities for students in grades K-5 and Club B activities for student in grades 6-8. Our goal is to give the kids who otherwise wouldn’t have the opportunity the chance to learn the game of golf. Meadow Park picks up the kids from the school and transports them to the golf course and back to school with a chaperone from Metro Parks Tacoma. When they arrive at Meadow Park Golf Course, they are met with a coach from the First Tee of South Puget Sound. Each week has a specific agenda. The first week was putting with snag, second, Snag chipping, third Snag pitching, fourth putting with regular clubs, fifth chipping with real clubs, sixth full swing with real clubs, and the final week skills challenge with real clubs. In 2024 this became a year-long program with four sessions each being eight weeks. This program will reaches up to 312 kids per year. First Tee South Puget Sound which is headquartered at Meadow Park, is creating programming in 83 schools in the local community. We continue to host 5 High Schools, 2 colleges and partner with our local county to run a Special Olympics Program.
