Please indicate any Growth of the Game initiatives your facility/academy has launched over the past year (please give specifics on such programs):
To promote both enjoyment and involvement in the game of golf for juniors and ladies, I have implemented very effective and popular programs consisting of weekly classes, supervised practices, golf matches, and summer camps for different ages and levels. Based in large part on the Operation 36 platform, the weekly classes creatively layer in the best parts of other teaching programs to address a wide range of golf and character subjects such as posture, work ethic, fitness, alignment, honor, honesty, organization/preparation, AimPoint Express and ball-flight with Flight Scope. Skill work includes chipping, pitching, bunker shots, putting, full swing, trouble shots and course management. For the juniors, games such as relays and home run derby keep it fun, and multiple Discover Golf games make skills practice more fun. The program has a theme each week, and the participants compete for prizes at the end of the year through skills competition and knowledge-based questions on rules, etiquette and history of the game. Summer camps encourage many kids who have never golfed to give it a try, so the camps are built on fun and activities that assure early success. From 2016-2022, more than 360 different junior club and non-club members have participated in class and camps, and in 2022 thirty-five ladies joined the Operation 36 Program.

To draw women into and back into the game, I have worked to introduce and implement various ladies programs with alternative structures, format and content. It’s not uncommon for a Ladies’ Beginner Program to include: Introduction of golf shop and tour golf related facilities, Discuss the when, where and how to make tee times and discuss best times for play, Tour the range and practice facilities and talk about when and how to use them, Conduct 3-5 hole events in where the professionals play with them in a scramble format (to reduce pressure), Talk and teach as we go (keeping it fun!), Incorporate lunch or coffee/snack/drinks, and to include scheduled supervised small group practices. As ladies progress through the instructional program to higher levels of learning, more focus on skills and technique is introduced, including Putting, Short game/wedges, Irons, Drivers, On-course management and Psychology of the game.

In 2022 I hosted over 100 women for a Ladies-only clinic during the BMW Charity Pro-Am. The ladies had a spectacular lunch with Amy Alcott, as she told wonderful stories about golf and her career. Following lunch the ladies golf clinic was kicked off with music, fun and instruction.

From 2013-2015 I’ve coached three PGA Junior League teams in Columbia, SC. In 2017 I introduced PGA Jr. League to Country Club of Spartanburg. Our Country Club of Spartanburg teams won the City of Spartanburg Championship in 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020. In 2020 our PGA Jr. League team finished second in the Carolinas Shootout in Pinehurst, NC. I also coached the 2017, 2018 and 2019 Spartanburg area All-Star teams. In 2021I started and coached the first ever PGA Junior League team at The Carolina Country Club. During 2021 and 2022 this helped introduce another 30+ youth into the game.

Please share any programming you have made to keep your customers & students engaged:
Through private instruction, adult and junior programming he has helped The Carolina Country Club and Country Club of Spartanburg grow the game and grow their membership. Our team has been an integral part of sixty-five families to date joining or upgrading to full golf membership status. Full family dues average between $560-$650 per month. This has helped generate a revenue stream that has increased each clubs numbers in membership, initiation fees, rounds of golf, golf shop sales, and food and beverage.

I have implemented long-term advanced coaching packages for the Serious and/or Elite Players which takes range instruction to another level. These packages are designed to continually develop and challenge the player. Golfers will purchase up to 6 months of instruction, and in addition to full swing, wedge and putting assessments, the curriculum includes:

I wanted to teach students a highly effective method of greens reading, so I pursued AimPoint certification under Mark Sweeney. To date, I’ve instructed more than 150 students in AimPoint greens reading, including PGA, LPGA, mini-tour professionals and college teams. I’m currently one of five people in South Carolina and the only one in the Upstate certified to teach AimPoint, providing an option to golfers all around the Southeast seeking this particular instruction.

I have helped many junior golfers achieve their lifelong dreams of earning college golf scholarships, with 104+ students to date.

Some of my former and current students including Dustin Johnson, William McGirt, Lauren Stephenson and Anna Morgan have competed in national, prestigious events such as PGA Tour and LPGA Tour events, the Walker Cup, Curtis Cup, Presidents Cup, Jr Presidents Cup, Ryder Cup, Masters, US Amateur, US Open, ANA, PGA, Palmer Cup, Women’s US Open, Augusta National Women’s Amateur and the Open.
