Please indicate any Growth of the Game initiatives your facility/academy has launched over the past year (please give specifics on such programs):
We launched an additional Junior League program for our Par 3 course. This is in addition to our standard Junior League team program. By utilizing the par-three course, we can provide our younger players with an easier transition into the junior league format. We also changed the format slightly, so players compete in a scramble with a partner. Instead of setting teams, each player earns points for themselves, allowing them to have a different partner every week.
We also added a Par 3 component to our Ladies Night programming. In years past, we had only had our nine-hole league and beginners clinic, and it was often a big jump to get our clinic ladies to begin playing. By opening the par 3 to the group, we were able to get more of our ladies out of the clinics and out playing golf in just a matter of weeks. This addition saw a 50% increase to our clinic program and a much higher success rate at turning clinic participants into playing participants.
Please share any programming you have made to keep your customers & students engaged:
Full Game Golf Assessments- I created a 90 shot assessment that measures and compares every single shot to different handicap levels and breaks your game down into 13 unique skills. This assessment gives our players a very detailed look into their game and then allows us to build an improvement plan based on the assessment.
Practice Journal- I worked with an illustrator to create a practice journal that includes our full game assessment and 24 different practice challenges for players to do on their own. Each challenge comes with setup and scoring instructions and space for players to record their high scores. This stat tracking really gamifies the skill development process.
Legends of the Links trading cards- I created these trading cards as a motivational tool for our junior golfers. The kids can collect the cards by completing skill challenges in lessons and clinics. Each card has a unique character and skill challenge written on the cards. As the kids collect more cards, they can then use the cards on their own to compete in the head-to-head challenges written out on each card, bringing new competition into the trading card game.
Ladies Night- Tuesday nights are dedicated to our ladies' programming, including our beginners 30&3 clinic, which includes a 30-minute clinic and then three holes of on-course instruction. At the same time, we also have our Sunset Social running, which is our beginner nine-hole league. In this league, we have created custom scorecards with different skill points every week. One week, we may focus on putting, and players will receive points for how they perform in putting for those nine holes. They are also allowed to pick up the ball and place it on the green if they are struggling. This has decreased a lot of the anxiety that new players face their first time out playing and has created a really fun format.
