First Tee Collaboration
In 2017, Harborside played a pivotal role in expanding the reach of First Tee – Greater Chicago across the South Side of Chicago by providing essential classroom and office space for their staff, along with access to our expansive 57-acre practice facility. This new space became crucial during the pandemic, enabling First Tee Site Director Erika Shavers to continue virtual instruction when in-person gatherings were restricted. It offered a vital resource for children seeking safe, recreational, and social opportunities during uncertain times.

Fast forward to September 2023, First Tee – Greater Chicago proudly inaugurated the Harborside Youth Learning Center, the first dedicated youth golf facility on Chicago’s South Side. This state-of-the-art center features a Foresight simulator, a dedicated learning environment, and advanced technology, serving as a hub for personal and athletic development. It’s not just about golf; it’s about nurturing young golfers and individuals alike. The center will offer programming five days a week, year-round.

KemperSports Youth Golf Week
In line with our ongoing commitment to making golf more welcoming and accessible to young players, Harborside proudly launched KemperSports’ inaugural Youth Golf Week. This initiative kicked off with a Chicago Public Schools clinic led by KemperSports community advisor Roger Steele. While this clinic is just one part of our extensive annual programming, Youth Golf Week will become a staple event aimed at introducing generations of young people to the joys of this wonderful game.
