SPECIAL PROGRAMMING: Please share any programming you have to keep your customers & students engaged

The Antonacci family, who are the private owners of the club, are both generous and helpful to the neighboring communities of the Pioneer Valley. From academic scholarships, donations, and holiday toy drives, to sharing their space or delivering fresh produce, GreatHorse tries to reach beyond it’s sprawling golf course to the towns that surround its greens.

Each school year, GreatHorse supports a local scholarship foundation by awarding two students with the “GreatHorse Scholarship”. This goes out to two well-rounded highschool seniors from Minnechaug Regional High School who are looking to major in business and are excelling in both academics and a varsity sport. The Antonacci’s are afamily of entrepreneurs, so supporting students who aspire to further their education is reminiscent of their youth.

GreatHorse also supported the “Turf at Chaug” project in 2019, which funded the construction of a brand new artificial turf field at Minnechaug Regional High School. This field is utilized by the high school’s sports teams as well the Wilbraham Parks & Recreation Department.

GreatHorse continues to contribute to its town library, being the title sponsor to their annual fundraiser supporting their summer reading programs.

Once summer is over and the season comes to a close, GreatHorse prepares a club-wide toy drive in efforts to be the reason a child smiles during the holiday season. Members and employees are invited to donate a gift, which are then dropped off at the local Shriner’s Hospital located in the neighboring city of Springfield, Massachusetts. GreatHorse has supported this local hospital for the past few holiday seasons, and this drive is greatly supported by employees and members alike. This year, we are extending our holiday donations to Christina’s House, which is an organization in Springfield, Massachusetts that supports women and their children who are homeless or at risk of homelessness

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Antonacci family donated $125,000 to the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts through the Millions of Meals food drive. The Antonacci’salso offered COVID-19 vaccinations onsite at their family businesses to all of their employees.

In 2018, GreatHorse shared its course with the Massachusetts Golf Association to host the 109th Mass Open Championship. This three-day tournament was a huge successthanks to the help of over 100 local volunteers that were invited to donate their time in exchange for a round of golf on the private course. We take pride in being part of a smallcommunity that helps each other when needed.

Since 2018, the local police department and other chiefs of Massachusetts are personally invited to play the course with a guest, as well as enjoy complimentary food andbeverage all in honor of The Jimmy Fund. Together, the Hampden Police Department and GreatHorse raised over $2,000 in an effort to help cure cancer in 2020. Another way that GreatHorse supports the Hampden Police Department is by being an annual sponsor for their Public Safety Night Out. Families from Hampden and surrounding towns are invited to attend this free event that brings awareness to the police force, fire safety, and local businesses. The Club contributes a monetary donation towards the event that goes toward the extravagent fireworks display along with setting up a complimentary hot chocolate stand for guests of the event to enjoy.

In collaboration with SMGA, the Salute Military Golf Association, GreatHorse welcomed Post 9-11 Combat Wounded and Injured Veterans for a round of golf as recognition fortheir bravery and service to our country.

GreatHorse is proud to be the home practice course to the Wilbraham Monson Academy, a private boarding and day school located just down the street. By sharing the coursewith the younger golf community, GreatHorse hopes to encourage, support, and challenge young minds to help shape their athletic futures and promote the sport of golf toyounger generations.

The Farm at GreatHorse, established in 2018, was designed to grow fresh vegetables and herbs for the kitchen. In addition to the fresh produce served in the restaurant, thesurplus is shared with the public, making personal deliveries to the local fire department, police department, senior center, town hall, churches, and other nearby businesses.

In addition to the community outreach detailed above, GreatHorse strives to support local businesses when committing to vendors for work-related projects. From printingpromotional posters, to embroidering apparel, to purchasing milk and honey for use in the kitchen – the first place to look is always in the neighboring cities and towns.GreatHorse strongly believes in supporting small, local businesses, so if the work can be done locally, they are happy to support and build connections. GreatHorse is proud tobe part of a small community that allows multiple opportunities to give back and offer support when needed.
