Growing the Game: Chris’ Commitment to Golf Development
Daily Goals and Player Engagement
One of Chris’ primary objectives is to expand the game of golf by fostering positive experiences for both current and potential players. Each day, golf professionals have a wonderful opportunity to:
Connect with potential players
Increase the number of players at our facility
Retain those players, turning them into ambassadors for our facility and instruction programs
Over the past year, Chris has launched several specific initiatives to promote the Growth of the Game, including Starting Point, Practice Pods, and Scoring Solutions.
Evolving Instruction Methods
Chris recognizes that the landscape of golf instruction has evolved significantly in recent years. Players are now accessing information and instruction in various ways, with online resources from high-level instructors becoming increasingly common. His experience demonstrates that this modern approach can be highly beneficial to players’ success. Chris currently coaches players across multiple states, facilitating more frequent interaction through live online sessions. However, he values in-person instruction more, as it allows him to connect and build relationships. Many of the members and guests who seek his guidance do so for reasons beyond just improving their golf skills; they often seek friendship, exercise, and social engagement.
Successful Programs
Practice Pods
One of Chris’ standout programs is Practice Pods, an in-person initiative designed to teach golfers effective practice strategies. Participants enroll with their regular foursome, and each week, Chris joins them on the course for nine holes, providing coaching throughout their round. From March to October 2025, participation in this program surged by 38%. Many golfers have pursued private and group instruction after experiencing success through on-course coaching.
Starting Point
Another initiative is Starting Point, tailored for new players. This program emphasizes essential golf skills, helping newcomers understand where to begin. The session starts as a social hour, where participants discuss golf and acclimate to the environment. They tour the facility as if preparing to play, covering topics such as:
Tipping
Making tee times
Checking in
Meeting the starter
Participants then ride several holes, learning crucial information, including:
Cart path rules
The significance of red, yellow, and white stakes
The meaning behind different flag colors
The first session concludes with a casual putting event at the putting green. Classes continue throughout the year, progressing from putting to tee shots, all conducted on the course. Over 75% of participants enroll in the Your Par Golf instruction program after completing the initial series, highlighting its value in building comfort and interest in the game.
Scoring Solutions
Chris’ program, Scoring Solutions, focuses on immediate and long-term player development. Golfers complete a player profile detailing their current level, scoring goals, timeline, instruction, and practice history. After enrollment, they undergo several assessments and record their scores on video. Chris reviews the footage, offering feedback and setting goals for the upcoming week, along with weekly progress updates and practice drills. This program consistently yields excellent results, helping players enhance specific areas of their game and lower their overall scores.
A Passion for Mentorship
Chris is grateful for the talented professionals who mentored him early in his career, shaping him into the golf professional he is today. His passion for growing the game of golf drives him to create opportunities for others to learn. He dedicates himself each day to introducing new players to golf while encouraging seasoned golfers to play more frequently. Ultimately, Chris focuses on cultivating relationships with his members and guests, providing them with engaging opportunities in the game, and delivering exceptional service and attention to detail. He remains committed to giving back to the sport that has enriched his life.

One initiative that Chris has introduced is the “Lunch and Learn” program. This player development initiative focuses on short-term improvement and involves participants joining an online Zoom meeting centered around a specific instructional topic. Chris encourages attendees to submit questions and suggest topics of interest throughout the week for discussion during the session. The topic with the most votes is chosen, and the conversation revolves around it. Each session lasts 30 minutes, generating excitement within the club and on the range for the remainder of the week. Attendance continues to rise, providing a refreshing break from work and offering players something to focus on throughout the week.
