SPECIAL PROGRAMMING:
For junior golf, there is no better product supported by the PGA of America than the PGA Junior League. I’ve been an early adopter, and our academy is currently pushing for a Top 10 spot in the 2024 National PGA Junior League Game Changer Award. This year we had over 300 registrants across our three seasons (160+ unique participants). Although I wasn’t the first to adopt the PGA Junior League when it launched, I was one of the first in my PGA Chapter to create an in-house league and significantly grow the number of registered juniors. With league fees kept under $300, it remains our most successful and inclusive junior program.
As the PGA Junior League grew in popularity across the country, I made a conscious effort to preserve its original mission: having fun while learning and playing golf with friends. In 2024, we implemented three seasons: a Spring Recreational Season true to the program’s roots, a Summer Select Season for those aiming to qualify for our All-Star team, and another recreational season in the Fall. While I fully support the competitiveness of our All-Star Teams, which have qualified for Regional Championships in the last three years, I wanted to ensure we didn’t leave behind juniors who wanted to play with their friends or who were newer to the game. The creation of our Recreational and Select seasons ensured that all juniors, regardless of skill level, could enjoy the game in a way that suited them.
