Please indicate any Growth of the Game initiatives your facility/academy has launched over the past year (please give specifics on such programs):
In the last year we have added weekly on-course clinics for the women at our club. We are trying to get more ladies to transition from just taking lessons to actually playing, so this was how we made it more comfortable for them to get on the course. I have also added half-day golf schools for our 9-hole women’s association because they prefer group settings and a social component, so these schools include a clinic on the range, lunch and on-course instruction. For the juniors we have added “Mommy & Me” clinics as a new opportunity to get families enjoying the game together.
Please share any programming you have made to keep your customers & students engaged:
I continue to offer Operation 36 to the women at our club, which is an 8-week group clinic covering all parts of the game. In the 3 years we have done it we have reached over 400 women, and about half of them had never played golf before.
In addition to Operation 36, we run little league style junior golf leagues. Participants come to 1 practice a week and have matches on Saturdays. The juniors are split into teams and have a season long points race. These leagues cover ages 5-12. We have weekly clinics for 3/4 year olds to introduce them to the basics of the game. Also, all year long juniors can compete in a stroke play tournament on Saturdays and a scramble on Sunday.
