Please indicate any Growth of the Game initiatives your facility/academy has launched over the past year (please give specifics on such programs):
In 2024, we focused on strengthening the foundation of our junior golf program by refining pathways to ensure that juniors participate in programs best suited to their individual goals and interests. Our developmental program introduces juniors to golf as early as age three, guiding them through their journey with elements from Operation 36 and the PGA Coach ADM model.
This year, we placed a particular emphasis on the 11-15 age group, leading to the creation of a specialized “competitive” group. This group, consisting of 15 players, was selected based on their aspirations to play golf beyond high school and their commitment to becoming well-rounded tournament players. Structured like a college team, these players engage in comprehensive practice and training both on and off the course, with learning sessions conducted on the course and in the classrooms of the resort.
In addition to this competitive group, we formalized our college planning services, which support young players aspiring to compete at the collegiate level. Families can now retain our Academy’s services to help these players reach their college golf goals. This program goes beyond skill development, offering tournament schedule planning, resume building, and strategic guidance on how to attract the attention of college coaches. This initiative has enabled many of our students to pursue golf at a higher level, helping to grow the game by cultivating future competitive players.
Please share any programming you have made to keep your customers & students engaged:
Beyond the pillar of junior instruction, there are several keep programs in place at Lansdowne to engage students. Below are some of the core programs:
– Leading the way in modern engagement is the introduction of true remote lessons using the GolfLIVE platform. Through GolfLIVE, Brian provides remote lessons that allow students to connect with him in real time, making use of live video conferencing to review swings, analyze performance, and address specific questions. This setup mirrors the experience of in-person lessons, giving students the flexibility to receive expert guidance wherever they are. Additionally, Brian offers remote swing reviews and live group broadcasts on GolfLIVE for Lansdowne members, where he shares valuable insights, drills, and course management tips that keep his students connected and motivated. These remote services have expanded access to Brian’s instruction, fostering a continuous learning experience that goes beyond the physical boundaries of the academy.
– True-Beginner Ladies Golf Series: Understanding the importance of creating a welcoming entry point for women, our academy has introduced a true-beginner ladies golf series. This program is specifically designed for women with no prior golf experience, offering introductory lessons that build confidence and foundational skills in a supportive and non-intimidating environment. The series has been successful in drawing new female golfers into the game, encouraging regular participation, and fostering community among participants
– On-Course Strategy Program and Game Day Performance Training: Brian’s academy also introduced an On-Course Strategy Program that focuses on improving players’ course management skills, decision-making under pressure, and adaptability to real-world playing conditions. Paired with Game Day Performance Training—which includes heart rate variability tracking and mindfulness techniques—these programs address not just technical skills but also mental resilience, preparing players to handle the demands of competitive play.
-PGA HOPE Program: In addition to these growth initiatives, Our academy’s involvement with the PGA HOPE program highlights our commitment to making golf accessible to veterans. Lansdowne and Loudoun county features a large concentration of retired and active military and it was important to our goals that we build this into our player development outreach.
