Black Gold Golf Club launched a community-based initiative while the facility was closed for five weeks due to COVID-19. While many grocery stores and other retailers were sold out of essential food/toiletry items, Black Gold assembled “Home Essentials Boxes” and prepared family meals to-go to sell to members of the community. Home Essentials Boxes were sold for $45 and contained common grocery items like eggs, ground beef, pasta, butter and toilet paper. In addition to providing a service to the community and driving revenue amid an unprecedented closure, this initiative allowed Black Gold to retain many of its employees, while many other businesses in the industry were forced to lay off or terminate staff members.
