True Temper Sports Announces Management Transition

True Temper Sports announced that Jason Jenne, Chief Operating Officer, will succeed Scott Hennessy as President and CEO of the company in January of next year. Mr. Hennessy will be stepping away from his direct operating role, but will retain his position as Chairman of the Board of Directors, as well as his ownership position in the company.

Mr. Jenne has an extensive background in the sporting goods and consumer products industries, and has served as both COO and CFO at True Temper Sports since joining the company in 1998 from Emerson Electric’s corporate headquarters in St. Louis, MO. In addition to his new role as President and CEO, Mr. Jenne will continue to serve on the company’s Board of Directors.

“It is truly an honor to be selected to lead this great company alongside our talented and long-standing management team,” Mr. Jenne stated.  “We will continue to build on our past success, and we remain 100% committed to delivering the most innovative products and outstanding service levels to our customers and global markets.”

In reflecting on his time as CEO and the upcoming management transition, Mr. Hennessy stated, “It has been a great privilege to lead True Temper over these past 20 years, and the experience has been a very rewarding one for me, both personally and professionally. Today True Temper is clearly a market leader with outstanding people and a wide variety of exceptional world class products. In order to continue to build upon our 100 year history of success, I believe that now is the perfect time for our company to move on to the next generation of leadership. The company is in a strong position in terms of its outlook and direction, and has some very exciting new product introductions planned for the years ahead. Jason has been with True Temper for over 15 years, and has consistently demonstrated that he has what it takes to lead this company and to ensure that we continue to deliver the same outstanding product portfolio to our customers and the overall sporting goods industry. Most recently, Jason has served as our Chief Operating Officer, leading all of True Temper’s global manufacturing facilities and worldwide operations. I am excited to see such a capable leader firmly in place in order to carry forward with the company’s momentum and strategy for the future”.

Katherine Lehman, a True Temper Board member and Managing Director at the company’s majority investor, Lincolnshire Management Inc., summed it up by stating, “Scott is stepping back after two decades as a very accomplished and respected leader, and we thank him for his many contributions in growing and developing the business. We are excited that we will be able to maintain the growth and industry leadership of True Temper Sports under Jason’s very capable direction, and with Scott remaining on our Board of Directors.”

True Temper Sports is the leading golf shaft manufacturer in the world, and consistently ranks as number one on the global professional golf tours. The company markets a complete line of golf shafts under the True Temper, Grafalloy, and Project X brands; and sells these products in more than 30 countries worldwide.
