Tucked into the heart of Woodmont Country Club in urban Rockville, Maryland, The Loop is more than a short course; it’s a lively hub for practice, play and connection. With its flexible layout, easygoing vibe and thoughtful amenities, the Loop has become a beloved gathering spot where members of all ages can enjoy the game in fresh and memorable ways.
A Dynamic Course Built for Variety
The Loop’s nine par-3 holes invite creativity every time you tee it up. Each hole can be routed differently, allowing our facility team to design fresh setups that keep every round exciting. The longest hole can stretch just over 115 yards, while others encourage delicate wedge shots and imaginative putting. It’s the perfect place to sharpen your short game, practice large-breaking putts on undulating greens and experiment with different elevations and shot shapes — all in a relaxed setting that rewards fun over power.
Reflecting on the design process, David Dorn, PGA of America Director of Golf, says “We did a thorough job of canvasing the golf world’s short courses to bring the best experience in a short course for all levels of golfers.”
His insight underscores the thoughtful research and creativity that went into shaping every hole of The Loop.
Evening Energy and Special Events
When Woodmont hosts marquee tournaments such as Member-Guest and The Tradition, The Loop transforms into a vibrant evening venue. Temporary lights are often installed to extend play after sunset, creating a festive atmosphere that’s both striking and social. We’ve staged everything from creative nine-hole putting contests to friendly team challenges, all designed to keep the fun going long after the final putt drops on the main courses.
The Loop Haus makes hospitality effortless. Drinks, cocktails and hors d’oeuvres are easy to set up just steps from the greens, turning a twilight round into a true party. Whether it’s a relaxed happy hour or a spirited night competition, The Loop delivers a casual yet memorable experience.
A Launchpad for Junior Golf
The Loop plays a pivotal role in our junior programming. Golf camps and clinics regularly use the space to help young players develop skills in a welcoming environment. Its approachable length and easy walk encourage juniors to play full rounds with friends, practice challenging chips and putts and build confidence without the intimidation of a full-length course. You’ll often see groups of junior members heading to The Loop on their own, enjoying the freedom and easy access it provides.
Inclusive for Guests and New Members
Every guest fee at Woodmont Country Club includes a round on The Loop, ensuring visitors experience every facet of the club. It’s the ideal way for guests to unwind before or after a round on Woodmont’s main North or South Courses, and it showcases the welcoming, multifaceted spirit of our community. Whether you’re introducing a friend to Woodmont for the first time or hosting a corporate group, The Loop offers a fun, low-pressure complement to championship golf.
Corporate and Private Gatherings
The Loop has also become a go-to venue for corporate events and private celebrations. From relaxed happy hours to creative team-building competitions, its flexible design and easy hospitality create an atmosphere that encourages camaraderie. Great for skilled golfers and beginners alike, gatherings at The Loop are welcoming and fun for everyone. Temporary lighting and the convenient Loop Haus allow events to stretch into the evening, offering a unique setting that’s equal parts golf and social gathering.
A Place Where Community Grows
Ultimately, the Loop is about more than golf. It’s a stage for connection and community, where families spend time together, juniors share their first birdie, friends linger over cocktails after sunset and guests discover the full Woodmont experience. Its blend of playful challenge and social charm ensures that every visit feels special.
As Woodmont continues to evolve, The Loop remains a shining example of our commitment to innovation and inclusivity. By offering a flexible, welcoming space for practice, competition and celebration, it captures the essence of what makes our club unique: a place where the game we love brings people together in unforgettable ways.
