Randy Towner: Make the Range Accessible to the Flow of Traffic

Randy Towner, a past Midwest PGA Section Golf Professional of the Year, Player of the Year and Senior Player of the Year and Midwest PGA Section Hall of Famer, is the PGA general manager at Firekeeper Golf Course in Mayetta, Kansas.

Randy Towner got the idea to make Firekeeper Golf Course’s golf range more comfortable when he noticed a large tournament’s players were all hanging out on the range. “Registration was outside, balls were on the range, hardly anyone was in the shop and my thought was, ‘We need to make our business accessible to the traffic flow of the players.” The next event, Firekeeper set up a portable bar on the range and moved merchandise outside. “I think it’s very important. It made people happier, increased out sales and people look forward to having a Bloody Mary on the range when they come to Firekeeper.” Make your business mobile enough so it can follow the flow of traffic, Towner said. It’s made the range more enjoyable, less stark and increased the range and bar business for the club, he added.
