Kal Katz is the owner of Mad Golfer Golf Club in Southampton, Pennsylvania, a GRAA Top 50 Stand Alone Range.
Kal Katz, owner of Mad Golfer Golf Club in Southampton, Pennsylvania, transformed a vacant space at his range into a sculpture garden- complete with artwork worth up to $100,000. “I had this piece of land at my practice range that was essentially going unused. So, I came up with the idea of creating our own sculpture garden. We call it the Art Community Experience,” Katz said. Katz and his staff did the heavy lifting to build the foundation of the garden, but the artwork is loaned to them by the artists themselves. “It’s a win-win situation,” Katz said. “They have major pieces of art that haven’t been sold yet. This gives them exposure for those pieces.” Katz says his focus is to help educate and hopefully inspire creativity in the kids who visit. “We created an area so that in the future we can have local students display their artwork here, too. So, you’d have a sculpture that sells for $50,000 sitting next to a 10-year-old’s piece of art. How inspirational is that for that young child?”
