The biggest improvement we’ve made is the establishment of the Fiddler’s Academy which I launched in November 2013. I restructured the staff including taking the Head Golf Professional, Mat Kent and moving him into the role of Director of Instruction. This allowed us to focus our efforts on staff training, expansion of clinics, jr. camps, the beginning of 1/2 and 1 day golf schools, etc. With this our instruction program now has structure that allows players of all skill/gender/age group to find something for them besides individual instruction. Mat has also employed the use of a coaching philosophy as
opposed to just teaching (became a certified golf coach in addition to TPI certifications). Last winter, I hosted Academy Sessions in the Clubhouse which kept continued interest amongst the membership throughout the winter. These sessions covered Rules, Sports Psychology, Ballstriking and Ball Flight understanding. We added a Sports Psychologist to our Academy Staff to round out our professionals. We are anxious for the Tennis/Fitness facility to open in the next year or so, so that we may add an onsite fitness component. The Club is also reviewing plans for our Academy building with indoor bays for inclement weather/winter usage. All together our Instructional program has greatly increased in number of participants, opportunities and dollars.
